Gilbert's Bed & Breakfast is centrally located to many popular destinations while being far enough away from city life to maintain a relaxed atmosphere. Below are some of the events coming up in our area.


Newport International Polo

Glen Farm
715 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI

June 6 through September (Saturdays at 5 p.m.)

Teams of four play off against each other as they attempt to score from horseback by driving white wooden or plastic balls into the goals with long mallets.

Admission to the lawn seating, bleacher seating and tailgate parking areas is $12, with children free up to the age of 15. Box seats are $20.


Colonial Encampment

Pawtuxet Park, Warwick, RI

June 12-14

Dozens of militia camp out for the weekend in authentic Revolutionary style giving visitors a feel for 1772 military life. Hosted by the Pawtuxet Rangers.


Waterplace Park, Providence, RI

June 13 to November 7 (Usually Saturdays), sunset

This award-winning sculpture by Barnaby Evans installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence, has been praised by Rhode Island residents and international visitors alike as a powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence's renaissance. WaterFire's over eighty sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the firetenders passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of Waterplace Park. WaterFire has captured the imagination of over ten million visitors, bringing life to downtown, and revitalizing Rhode Island's capital city.

Admission is free and open to the public.


Summer Solstice Celebration

Seekonk Library

Musical performances, children's nature activities, local artists, gardening information, children's kite-making workshop, professional kite flying


Antique Fire Apparatus and Equipment Show

Glen Park
Portsmouth, RI

June 21

Display of antique motorized apparatus and other fire memorabilia, Smokey Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog, music by Mike Higgins. Refreshments.


New England Fan Fest

Rhode Island Convention Center
One Sabin Street, Providence, RI

June 27

Pro wrestling convention and fans experience features opportunities to meet, take pictures with and get autographs from their favorite pro wresting stars. Merchandise for sale ranging from vintage to current, deluxe photo ops.



CVS Health Golf Charity Classic

Rhode Island Country Club Barrington, RI

June 28 through June 30

Features 20 professionals from the PGA, LPGA and Champions tours who are paired into 10 two-person teams.

Free admission on Sunday; One-day tickets for Monday and Tuesday are $25 each.



Bluegrass on the Pawtuxet Festival

Cranston/Warwick, RI

July 2-4

Live outdoor music, nightly seated concerts, workshops, street and pub jams, free afternoon music in the park, artisan and crafts, music vendors, food, farmers' market.

Newport Kite Festival

Brenton Point State Park
Ocean Drive, Newport, RI

July 11-12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Day-long open flying, kite demonstrations, kite flying battles.

Summer Fair

United Congregational Church of Little Compton

July 11

Rock climbing, children's games, music, food, crafts, book sale, raffle, white elephant, lobster salad roll luncheon, silent auction.


World's Fair 1904: Rhode Island Stories from History's Greatest Fair

Hearthside House Museum
677 Great Road, Lincoln, RI

July 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Celebration of Rhode Island's unique connections to the fair including exhibits and image galleries inside the museum and family fun activities featuring live music, arcade games, demonstrations, fair food and an entertainment tent.


Waterplace Park Concerts

WBRU's Friday night summer concert series begins.
